Christians Don't Knock Other Religions Down - 11/11/2003

My thought about this site.
Luke 6:36-38:
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not and ye shall not be judged: condemn not and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Now before you say yes another non Christian cultist, I must confess that I belong to no Church. I've read the KJV Bible over 100 times. I have a strong belief in God and His word and powers.
I have been to 27 different churches and each say they are the true church. You know and I know this is not true.
My problem is with the word Christian. Many call themselves Christian then turn around and knock the other religions down. God told us to love one another. He gave us a choice to accept His word or not, to believe as we want. Jesus had the power to kill all who were crucifying Him but did not. He had Love. I have not found in the Bible where Jesus condemned someone with such condemnation as I have seen on your pages.
I do not feel that this will appear on your site, but it is your site.
In Gods Love,.......................................

Hi. Thanks for writing to Contender Ministries. There are many like you who tend to pick and choose from the teachings of Christ that they like. It is true that Jesus taught us to love above all else. Jesus also speaks of the condemnation of those who reject Him. Biblically, Jesus will judge all people. That is not our place, and we do not presume to sit in the judgment seat. Yet biblically Jesus never taught us to condone false religions. By His example, He taught quite the opposite. And by sending us out to fulfill the Great Commission, His message is clear – love everyone, but do not love false doctrines. Share the gospel, and shine the light of the gospel on false religions. It is out of love for the souls of men that we shine that light. Only God knows the heart of a man, but by His Word we can and must judge the teachings of men, whether they be biblical or not! Next time you read through your Bible, I encourage you to pay heed to ALL of Christ’s teachings, including the following:

Matthew 7:15: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves

Matthew 24:10-11: “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people

Matthew 24:24: “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible

Mark 16:15-16: “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.’ ”

John 3:18-21: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God

John 8:42-45: “Jesus said to them, ‘If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!’ ”

John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ”

And if you don’t think Jesus was ever stern with his condemnation, read what he said to the Pharisees in Matthew 23, starting with verse 13. We hope you will read the gospels carefully, and realize that silently condoning false doctrines is to willingly concede the souls of the lost to condemnation. Is that love?

In Christ,
