A Wiccan Feels Offended - 07/18/2008
Helloz, my name is Yashira O. and im a 16 year old
wiccan.
Im writing to ask you a question:
Do you get
offended when people bash on your religion with statements such as
"God isn't real" or "The devil is just something that Christians made
up"?
I'd like to know this because, although it is your
opinion, many people DO get offended and hurt by your words, an
example of hurt being me.
I understand your point of view
seeing as how my mother has been Christian for 28 years and we have
had many religion=based talks, but please understand that wiccans
such as I harm none.
As a High Priestess, Ms. Silver RavenWolf
has stated many times "An' it harm none, Do what ye will"
we
STRONGLY abide by that. Im not saying that we all do, but those that
dont must not be true wiccans if it is pain and suffering that they
wish upon people eh?
thank you for your
time and consideration!
Blessed Be,
Yashira
CONTENDER MINISTRIES RESPONSE: Hi Yashira. Thanks for writing to us. First, let me answer your
question. We do NOT get offended by people saying things that bash
Christianity. We recognize that everyone has the right to believe as
they wish and to express those beliefs, as you have done in your email
to us (by sending your email, you did essentially what you criticize us
for doing). It does, however, make us sad that so many people are
rejecting the absolute truth and rejecting the one true God. This
places their eternal souls in jeopardy. That makes us sad, not
offended.
We don't criticize belief systems such as Wicca simply because we don't
like those beliefs. It's not about our personal tastes or
preferences. We didn't pull this out of nowhere. It's because these
beliefs are wicked, according to God's Word for us (the Bible). People
are deceived into accepting these beliefs, and placing themselves in
danger of judgment. Romans 1:25 is one of several verses in the Bible
that addresses the errors of Wicca, "They exchanged the truth of God
for a lie, and worshiped and served
created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen."
The rest of this chapter talks about judgment that awaits people who do
various wicked and sinful things, such as worshiping nature instead of
the God who created nature. For more passages of God's Word that
condemn what Wiccans embrace, go here: http://www.contenderministries.org/wicca/response.php.
God instructs us in the Bible to "contend for the faith" and counter
false teachings. That's what we do. If some are offended, that's a
small price to pay if even one person rejects their sinful ways and
turns to Jesus.
In Christ,
Ben Rast
