Your KJO Emails - 04/13/2004
Dear Ben and Jennifer Rast,
Having perused some of the reader mail regarding the King James Bible and
your responses to those e-mails, I wanted to voice my agreement with your
conclusions regarding this matter. It is disheartening to read that there
are Christians insisting upon the King James Version as the only
God-inspired translation. From a logical standpoint, and you made this
argument as well, it is untenable to claim a KJO position -- what of
translations in other languages? what of Bibles before the King James
version? And while logic is an easily corruptible tool of discernment, it
is still one tool believers must use while walking with the Lord.
There are, and will continue to be, unreliable Bible translations produced
by ungodly men and women. But when a believer strays from a Christ-centered
life, they often make idols of even the most holiest of things, like the
KJV. As you rightly pointed out, it is the Living Word that is sacred.
CONTENDER MINISTRIES RESPONSE:
Hi J.W. Thanks so much for sending this email. I just finished reading an angry email from a newsletter subscriber who was KJO and rather indignantly and abruptly cancelled his newsletter subscription. While I realize the KJO position is without merit, it was still a literal God-send to get your email of encouragement at this time. We also appreciate your previous email, but will respond to that separately. Thanks again, and may the Lord richly bless you.
