Christian Wicca - 01/12/2004

hello! my name is meagan, and i have a couple of questions that i would like you to answer for me if you can.

1. if someone were to practice christian wicca (wicca but worshiping God, The Holy Spirit and Jesus), would they end up going to hell?
2. if Wiccans actually worship satan, then why do they believe in diversity, the three fold law, and the Wiccan Rede (an ye harm none, do what thou wilt.)?

i have been considering Christian Wicca for a while, but i am now becoming doubtful by reading some passages in the Bible and looking on some websites. please e-mail me back with the answers so i can finally find the truth.

thank you for your time, and blessed be.

Hi Meagan. Thanks for writing to Contender Ministries. First, let me clear one thing up. Your item #2 asks about Wiccans worshipping Satan. We said in our Wicca section that most Wiccans don't worship Satan - at least not knowingly. While they do not recognize Satan, anyone who follows a false gospel or a false god is being deceived by Satan, and their adoration or worship is unknowingly given to him. We don't want anyone to confuse Wiccans with Satanists.

Until you wrote, I had no knowledge of the Christian Wicca movement. Having read up on it, I must implore you strongly to stay away from this movement that is completely pagan, and not at all Christian. What is Christian about this? Nothing more than some terminology. They claim to revere the Trinity, but the trinity described by Christian Wiccans is not Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but rather Father, Mother, and Son (also called God, Goddess, and Jesus). These people do not recognize that mankind is sinful and in need of salvation, and that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ (John 3:16, John 14:6). They are practioners of magic, which the Bible clearly states is wrong. Revelation 9:20-21 says, "The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood--idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts." If you do not yet realize how serious this is, Revelation 21:8 says, "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Wiccans, whether they call themselves Christian Wiccans or not, will not find salvation through their practice of magic or divination. I urge you to read and study the gospels, and know that eternal salvation, peace, and happiness can ONLY be found through steadfast submission to our Lord Jesus Christ. Read His Word, pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you and give you wisdom, and shun all that is not from God -- including so-called "Christian Wicca".

In Christ,

Ben and Jennifer Rast
